WHAT is TOURISM
Although many of us have been "tourists" at some point in our lives, defining what tourism actually is can be difficult. Tourism is the activities of persons traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business or other purposes. Tourism is a dynamic and competitive industry that requires the ability to constantly adapt to customers' changing needs and desires, as the customer’s satisfaction, safety and enjoyment are particularly the focus of tourism businesses.
Types Tourism encompasses:
Outbound Tourism Outbound tourism is what you may be most familiar with. It involves the business of people going from British Columbia to other provinces, territories or countries. For example, going to Hawaii in February is considered outbound tourism.
Inbound Tourism-BC competes in a global market to attract tourists from the United States, Japan, Germany and many other countries. We also implement marketing campaigns aimed at attracting travelers from other parts of Canada. The tourists coming to BC from other places are called inbound tourists.
Sectors The tourism industry is divided into five different sectors:
[Photo]Accommodation Food and Beverage Services Recreation and Entertainment Transportation Travel Services The diversity of these five sectors shows that the career options in the tourism industry are unlimited. Depending on your interests and skills, you can work indoors or out, nine to five or midnight to noon. You can work in an office, an airport or out of your home. You can have one career in the winter and another in the summer. In short, you can make your career fit the lifestyle you want.

TRAVEL with TOURISM
Tourism is travel for predominantly recreational or leisure purposes or the provision of services to support this leisure travel. The World Tourism Organization defines tourists as people who "travel to and stay in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes not related to the exercise of an activity remunerated from within the place visited". Tourism has become a popular global leisure activity. In 2004, there were over 763 million international tourist arrivals. Tourism is vital for many countries, due to the income generated by the consumption of goods and services by tourists, the taxes levied on businesses in the tourism industry, and the opportunity for employment in the service industries associated with tourism. These service industries include transportation services such as cruise ships and taxis, accommodation such as hotels, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues, and other hospitality industry services such as spas and

KAFIR-KALASH TRIBE with land..............
Over 3,000-strong Kafir-Kalash live in the valley of Birir, Bumburet and Rambur, south of Chitral. Bumburet, the largest and the most picturesque valley of the Kafir-Kalash , is 40 kms. from Chitral and is connected by a jeep-able road. Birir, 34 kms. away is accessible by a jeep-able road. Rambur is 32 kms from Chitral.
The Kalash are fun loving people who love music and dancing particularly on occasion of their religious festival like Joshi Chilinjusht (14th & 15th May-spring), Phool (20th – 25th September) and Chomas (18th to 21st December for a week).
Polo in Chitral is as popular as in Gilgit. Polo matches are great attractions at festive occasions. A regular Polo tournament is held every year (First week of July) at Shandur Pass.
Kalam & Kaghan Valley heaven in earth
A holiday in the Kaghan Valley, the Himalayan hide-away, north-east of the Hazara district of Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province, is an unforgettable experience. Its mountains, dales, lakes, water-falls, streams and glaciers are still in unbelievable pristine state, and unspoiled paradise. That is why it can be such a deeply satisfying experience to spend a few days in Kaghan. The Valley extends for 155 kms. Rising from an elevation of 2,134 metres to its highest point, the Babusar Pass, at 4,173 metres. Kaghan is at its best in the summer months (May to September). In May the temperature is: maximum 11 C and the minimum 3 C. From the middle of July up to the end of September, the road beyond Naran, snow-bound throughout the winter, is open right up to Babusar Pass. Movement is restricted during the monsoon season als
From the mighty stretches of the Karakorams in the North to the vast alluvial delta of the Indus River in the South, Pakistan remains a land of high adventure and nature. Trekking, mountaineering, white water rafting, wild boar hunting, mountain and desert jeep safaris, camel and yak safaris, trout fishing and bird watching, are a few activities, which entice the adventure and nature lovers to Pakistan.
Embraced by the cool forested peaks of the Lesser Himalaya, this 160km-long valley drained by the burbling Kunhar River is one of Pakistan’s most popular summer holiday spots. The verdant valley is not without its problems of crowding, litter and gouging hoteliers during the brief holiday season, but outside the summer peak, you will find the promised tranquillity though many of the hotels will have closed their doors.
The 2005 Kashmir earthquake devastated the town of Balakot and destroyed many roads in the steep-sided Kaghan Valley. On-going land slippage and subsequent savage winters have hindered roadworks, which were frequent enough even before the earthquake, and restoration of phone and power lines. Rebuilding was very much in evidence at the time of writing but it will be many years before this region returns to normal in terms of access and accommodationKalam was an independent kingdom before it fell under the sway of Chitral in the 19th century. It was given to Swat at Partition and now sells itself as the ‘Switzerland of Pakistan’ to domestic tourists. At 2070m with stunning mountain scenery it’s certainly a competitor.
Tourism dominates the village and unfettered development has crept away from the Swat River and onto the slopes. But its not too hard to escape the concrete and head into the wild and beautiful landscape that is Kalam’s real draw. Bear in mind that Swat Kohistan is a traditionally conservative and feudal place, and there are occasional hostilities towards both foreigners and the hordes of Punjabi tourists that come here. The PTDC advises taking a guide if you want to go hiking, and can help organise this.
Nepal Ready to go ..................................
Draped along the greatest heights of the Himalaya, Nepal is where the ice-cold of the mountains meets the steamy heat of the Indian plains. It's a land of yaks and yetis, stupas and Sherpas and some of the best trekking on earth. The Himalaya's most sophisticated urban cultures took shape here, in the three great minikingdoms of the Kathmandu Valley - Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur - home to a world-class artistic and architectural heritage.
Behind the Vishnu shrine of Ichangu Narayan, northwest of Swayambhunath in the Kathmandu Valley, rises the 'Abode of Snows' (Himalaya in Sanskrit), a magnet for trekkers and mountaineers the world over. Only in Nepal can you trek for weeks without the need even for a tent. No longer does your name have to be Tenzing or Hillary to set foot in Everest Base Camp. Out of the mountains, get your adrenaline kick from world-class white-water rafting, kayaking and mountain biking, or from the spine-tingling sight of your first tiger or rhino in Royal Chitwan National Park.
Maldives is the part of beauty..............................
Perhaps the ultimate in long haul luxury, the Maldives is currently enjoying incredible growth again having bounced back from a series of disasters in the past few years including the coral bleaching wrought by el NiƱo and the horror of the 2004 tsunami. Indeed, so superior are its beaches, so cobalt blue its waters and so warm its welcome that the country has become a byword for paradise whether it be for honeymooners, sun worshippers or divers.
A geological eccentricity nestled in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the Maldives are a series of ancient coral reefs that grew up around the sides of towering prehistoric volcanoes. These immense structures have long since sunk into the ocean, leaving behind coral islands of incredible natural beauty, now themselves being colonised by travellers seeking unbridled pampering and romance, from the modernity of Male’ to the idyllic paradise of the Southern Atolls.
Malaysia real ASIA
Malaysia’s reputation as a benign country makes some people think that it’s going to be boring. It’s true, pushy touts are rare, natural disasters only seem to happen across the border and the multi-ethnic population gets along well. What to do without the hassles? Why not stroll around Penang where wafts of Chinese incense mingle with sour durian while Bollywood tunes blast from an Indian shop. Next head to the Cameron Highlands where you can visit tea plantations in the cool air; or, on the Seribuat Archipelago, off the east coast of Johor, snorkel through coral gardens and lounge on a mind-poppingly perfect beach. Put on your leech-proof boots to track elephants in Taman Negara, and how about delving into the depths of Sarawak and Sabah on mythical Borneo where you can see wild orang-utans and climb massive Mt Kinabalu? Unexciting? We think not.

Traveling is the big DEAL to Pakistan
Welcome to the fabulous Pakistan. Pakistan is situated in the west of India and china while Iran and Afghanistan share their border with Pakistan on western side. Pakistan although a very peaceful and very friendly nation has been very badly hit by the notorious war on terrorism by the countries who always envied the landscape and blessing of the country. The local media the war on terror leaders have now destroyed peace and tranquility of some areas of Pakistan's in a game that no one understands. This game is not an old one similar games (Gilgit Game, Great game) were played on this soil many years ago by similar powers.
This land Pakistan (The pure Land) be it called Pakistan or be it (Sindu Sapta the real India ) has probably been the most sought after land in the history. From the King Darius of Persian the Alexander of Macedonia and numerous others there has been lot of culture changes in this soil. Today India boasts to be India of the past while it was know as Deserta Incognita (Un Known Desert) in the past. This is the real old India that world should come to see. This is where Moen Jo Daro of Indus civilization is. This is where the mighty river Indus runs and this is where the the Alexander came.
The spectacular views of the mountains the green planes, colorful deserts and the mighty Indus river are just a few things that this country has been blessed with. We are also blessed with the oldest history of the world. When we look at the civilizations like Egypt, Mesopotamia and others our Indus civilizations looks way too far well developed and well planned. We are the first urban civilization where city planning existed. We are the people who had binary system of the weights and the most accurate one 5000 yes five thousand years ago.
Today people talk of taxes and hygiene and organic food and saving nature we have had these ideas in 2500 BC we had a tax system democracy and even a system which was most eco friendly and well aware of nature and was protecting it.
Today when I buy a burger in a so called developed country it is wrapped in paper plastic and foil the trash weighs more than the burger come to Pakistan where when I buy a burger my friendly burger cooks it right in front of me and and hand it to me in the most plain format with no paper no plastic and no trash.
Pakistan is a paradise and no super power can destroy it. We are facing a time when people are talking all sorts of ill things about us but its only us who see that Pakistan still stands out and boasts to be the most beautiful and most wonderful country in the world.
Today some countries are building largest shopping malls, tallest towers and what not they destroy nature and produce an ugly piece of trash which does nothing but hurts our earth can those countries build mountains like K2 can they bring about a river as mighty and as legendry as river Indus.
This is an open invitation to every one come visit Pakistan don't listen to media don't listen to advisories this country is full of friendly folks flora and fauna. Nature smiles here and sun pays its first homage here in Pakistan.
Travel isn’t a health hazard — usually
A few common sense rules can keep you out of harm’s way during your travels. It may be as simple as looking both ways before you cross the street or putting your valuables in the hotel safe if one is provided. In a new article on Bing Travel, Pauline Frommer outlines additional ways to keep yourself safe while away from home. Using resources like the U.S. State Department’s Web site (or similar sites from other countries) and reading the news about your destination can alert you to common safety concerns. Wearing a money belt can protect you against pickpockets, while hiring a reputable local guide may prevent you from wandering into unsafe neighborhoods. What resources do you use...

Travel is Good for the Ego
One of the gifts of travel is the confidence boost you receive from navigating a place, language, culture or situation that is foreign in every sense of the word. It is nearly impossible to return from a challenging journey unchanged and unaffected. Though you may not notice the growth or maturity in your socio-emotional intelligence, the people around you will. This "traveler's glow" as I like to call it, is a magnet for the opposite (or same!) sex. If your love life is lagging, your sex drive is sagging and your ego is dragging: hit the road! There are thousands of people out there waiting to charm your pants off (literally and figuratively). This talks in generalities about what makes people attractive. I've got my own ideas, with a twist of course
Think Better With Your Traveling Thinking Cap On Technique
Think better and improve your thinking process through traveling. If you want to improve your mind and think better, expose it to new things. There are a lot of ways you can do this. Do you enjoy having new adventures and traveling? In fact, research has shown that traveling is a great way to train you to think better. If you travel often for business, you definitely have an advantage over most people, and if you like to go on vacation every now and then, try to go someplace new every time. This is going to "stretch your horizons" and improve your mind the most.
When you travel someplace new, everything is unfamiliar. What does that mean? You have to think. Think about that for a second; in your ordinary life, you usually travel the same routes to work, shop at the same grocery store, and do the same things day-to-day, day after day. As you continue, you become used to this so that your brain has to do relatively little thinking in order to accomplish these things. Let's take an example; have you ever driven to work without really knowing how you got there? That's because after a certain point in time, you can really do these things without thinking because they're familiar.
If you go on vacation to a new location, though, you're going to have to find where things are that you haven't seen before. Using a map to find out where you need to go is a good idea. You can also stimulate your brain to help you choose the best route based upon the maps information. If you're going to be in a country where you're going to be traveling on the other side of the road, this is definitely going to be something new for your brain, too.
When you travel someplace new, you're going to be taking in and processing a lot of information. You're going to see new things every day, whereas with your normal life, you see things every day that you are used to seeing, so you may not even notice them. Let's say, for example, that you live someplace where you have a beautiful mountain range within your line of sight. Chances are, although that caused you to gasp in amazement at first -- and even if you love it very much -- now you rarely even notice it, except when you remind yourself to do so. That means you "forget" about the amazing things in front of you until you hear someone else commenting on them.
Travel will open up new vistas to you that in fact are going to be "so-so" to the people who live there locally. Nonetheless, if you do this type of "new travel" on a regular basis, you're going to think better and keep your thinking process sharp. And in fact, that may be why people come back from a vacation with a new attitude and perspective, rejuvenated and refreshed, so that they can go back to their "normal" lives previously left behind.
Where you travel might matter, too, because you can offer your mind a challenge that it needs to solve. Let's say, for example, that you want to find the lowest prices on airfare or you want to get discount prices for theme parks nearby. When you budget for a vacation, you can also sharpen your thinking because having to budget and crunch the numbers is something that requires mind power -- and of course, you're going to have to make sure you can afford it.
As you continue to travel more and more, your mind, too, will benefit from this travel. Let your mind explore things from an entirely new perspective. If you can, travel with a friend or family member, which can help you feel more at ease if you're out of your natural element and uncomfortable doing so. It's also helpful to have someone else interpreting maps or other tools along with you.
If you can't have a vacation right now, you can still take notice of things in your area that you might not have previously noticed and try to imagine them from a new perspective. Even if you try to find a new route to work or just take a drive to "nowhere" for the weekend, you expand your thinking. It'll also give you refreshment, so that you can face your workday and workweek from a new perspective.
